About Me:
Hello! My name is Emily Kelly, and I am thrilled to be teaching 7th grade this year at Fayetteville-Perry Middle School. This is my second year of teaching the 7th grade here at FPLS, and I am excited for many more! My passion is helping students discover a passion for reading and writing.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in 7-12th grade English Language Arts [Wilmington College]
Certified in [Orton-Gillingham Morphology]
Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that all students have the ability to academically flourish, when their strengths are recognized and nurtured. My goal is to create a welcoming and supportive classroom environment where all students feel valued and motivated to achieve their best. I use a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on activities, group work, and technology integration, to make learning fun and effective.
Classes I Teach:
At Fayetteville-Perry Middle School I teach three classes: Language Arts, Foundations of Writing, and Creative Writing.
Language Arts- A 7th grade English class that focuses on strengthening the reading and writing skills of students through the use of the StudySync curriculum.
Foundations of Writing- A 7th grade writing class that focuses on strengthening the writing skills of students through the use of the StudySync curriculum.
Creative Writing- A 7th grade writing class that focuses on building up the narrative writing skills of students through daily practice and analysis of literature.
*All classroom work is electronically accessible through Google Classroom and StudySync*
Remote Learning Schedule:
In the event that students and staff are moved to remote learning due to weather or illness, the procedure will be as follows:
All students should have their Chromebooks and chargers to access our online curriculum. On Remote Learning Days, students will receive assignments in each content area through Google Classroom to support their classroom learning, state assessments, and End-of-Course exams. During these hours, I will be available on Google Meet or email to assist students and parents with assignments and content.
