About Me:
Hello! My name is Michelle Purdin, and I am thrilled to be teaching 3rd grade Science and Social Studies again this year. I have been teaching for 33 years, and my passion is helping students discover their potential and develop a love of learning.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education -Morehead State University
Master’s Degree in Masters of Science in Education and Allied Professions - University of Dayton
Teaching Philosophy:
I believe in a growth mindset teaching philosophy. This philosophy is based on the idea that intelligence and abilities can be developed through effort, perseverance, and learning from mistakes. This philosophy applied in the classroom helps students become more resilient, creative problem solvers, and achieve higher levels of success.
I believe by helping my students adopt a growth mindset students learn that they can develop their talents and abilities. Students see roadblocks and critical feedback as methods to gather information they could use to help themselves learn.
I believe that every student has unique strengths and learning styles. My goal is to create a supportive and engaging classroom environment where all students feel valued and motivated to achieve their best. I use a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on activities, group work, and technology integration, to make learning fun and effective.
