About Me:
Hi! I'm Becky (Kidd) Vaughn, and I am excited to be teaching Title I Reading again this year at Fayetteville Elementary. Fayetteville Schools and community have played an important role in my life! I attended Fayetteville Schools from Kindergarten through twelfth grade, and I've been teaching here for over 27 years. I attended my first Fayetteville Schools staff outing as a newborn with my father (who also taught at Fayetteville for 44 years)! My passion is helping students become stronger readers and encouraging them to become life-long learners!
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education ilmington College
Master’s Degree in Reading Instruction - Nova Southeastern University
Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that every student can learn, but we don't all learn the same things at the same time, or in the same way. Each of us has unique strengths and learning styles. Each needs to feel that someone cares, and each of us needs to realize that our efforts can affect our own progress.
I believe that reading is the most important skill we can learn, one that will benefit us in whatever path we choose in life. I endeavor to use evidence-based interventions to help students strengthen their reading skills, to promote a culture of literacy, to provide support to families, and to help students discover the joy of reading.
